Scope And Manufacturing
The ASTM B444 specification includes Inconel 625 Alloy Pipes and Inconel 625 Alloy Pipes Tubes, in the form of cold-worked pipes and tubes. ASTM B444 UNS N06625 Pipes or ASTM B444 UNS N06625 Tubes are fabricated in two grades of different heat-treated conditions - Grade 1 i.e. annealed, where products are applicable in temperatures up to 1100F, and Grade 2 i.e. solution annealed, where products are applicable in temperatures above 1100F where resistance to creep and rupture is required.

Mechanical Properties And Other Requirements:-
The material should undergo tensile testing and should adhere to the specified room temperature tensile properties like tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation depending on the heat treatment used and including small diameter and light-walled tubing. Each ASTM B444 Inconel 625 Seamless Pipes or ASTM B444 Inconel 625 Seamless Tubes shall undergo hydrostatic testing and shall adhere to the specified fiber stress and also be examined with a nondestructive electric test as required.
ASTM B444 UNS N06625 Seamless Pipes or ASTM B444 UNS N06625 Seamless Tubes do not have a weld or seam on them and hence are more structurally uniform and has similar strength properties all over the body. Dimension and Permissible Variation:-
Diameter and Wall Thickness—the allowed variations between the outside diameter and wall thickness shall adhere to the specified variations prescribed in below table.
Length—when the pipes are ordered cut-to-length, then the length shall adhere to the allowed variations prescribed in below table.
Straightness—the pipes shall be uniformly straight and free of bends and kinks.
Ends—the ends of the pipes should be plain cut and should have neaten or smoothen of the rough edges or ridges.

Specimen Preparation: -
Tension test- The tubes in the final condition (temper) of production are taken as specimen for tension test, and are tested in the direction of fabrication. Tubes are tested in full tubular size or longitudinal strip with reduced gage lengths. The tension test should be performed on stress-relived tubes prior to annealing the ends.
Hardness test- The hardness test is performed on the inside of the tube near the end or on the specimen cut from the end.
Workman Ship, Finish and Appearance: -
ASTM B444 UNS N06625 Seamless Pipes and ASTM B444 UNS N06625 Seamless Tubes are individually covered under the specification of ASTM B444, so that the premium quality of the material is retained and there are no damages in the last stages of production. The pipe should be uniform in quality and temper, commercially straight, smooth and free of any imperfections.
The tubes should be inspected as agreed upon by the purchaser and the manufacturer.
Rejection and Rehearing: -
The pipe or tube not adhering to the ASTM B444 specification or to authorized modifications should be subjected to rejection. The rejected specimens should be preserved for not less than 3 weeks from test report, and the manufacturer may claim for rehearing within that stipulated time period.
If it is mentioned in purchase order or the contract, then the manufacturer should be able to produce a certificate stating that the material has been manufactured and tested and inspected again with respect to the specification. It should also note the test results of the specimen samples which meets the specification requirements, and should be displayed as and when required.
