AISI 4130 is a Chromium and Molybdenum Alloy Steel With Low Carbon content
AISI 4130 Steel is used primarily in the construction of commercial and military aircraft and ground support systems.
Alloy Steel 4130 is a material with atmospheric corrosion resistance and good strength up to around 315º C (600º F). It contains chromium and molybdenum as strengthening agents and the low carbon content in this alloy steels makes it easily weldable. AISI 4130 is more responsive to mechanical and heat treatments as compared to carbon steels. SAE 4130 thus shows good strength, toughness and fatigue strength. 4130 Chromoly is similar to 4140 material which has high carbon content.
